About Convex Works
Convex Works builds the data systems companies use to understand growth and run the business. We are a small senior team based in the Netherlands. We work directly with founders and technical leads.
The role
We think the future of data science looks less like one-off analysis and more like building continuous systems. This role is built around that idea, and has two modes of operation.
Deep research: You find signal beyond the base layer. You work out what data matters, where it lives, how to get it, and how to combine it into something useful. Sometimes that means APIs. Sometimes exports, logs, documents, internal tools, or stranger sources no one set up for analytics. Sometimes it means extracting structure from messy inputs, including things like video. The work is technical, but it also requires imagination.
Data systems execution: You help turn it into an implemented system that keeps running. This may or may not include light development to sep up tracking, data ingestion, transformations, integrations, validation, monitoring, and visualisation. Not a one-off analysis.
What we are looking for
We care more about fundamentals, judgment, and rate of learning. You should be comfortable thinking across software, data, and business context.
You will likely fit well if you have:
- Strong technical fundamentals in software and data
- Comfort with code, APIs, auth, webhooks, and automations
- The ability to think like both a builder and a data scientist
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Evidence of shipping something real: work, research, side projects, or open source
Your background can be computer science, data science, AI, engineering. If you come form another discipline but self-taught your technical abilities, you’re more than welcome.
Tools and stack
We are not hiring for a fixed checklist. Specific tools can be learned.
You should be comfortable around code, data models, APIs, cloud systems, tracking infrastructure, and modern AI tools. We use the tools that fit the problem. The point is not expertise in a brand name. The point is being able to learn what is needed and use it well.
The current tools we juggle:
- AI: Codex, Claude Code, Cursor + OpenAI’s & Anthropic’s APIs
- Dev: Svelte, Tailwind, Shadcn, Bun, Typescript
- Data: Python, Segment, Rudderstack, Google Suite, Zapier/N8N
- Ops: We self host our own git, project management software, file storage, slack-like communications, and more — if we can self-host something, we usually do.
